Matt Dykstra joined Alter Trading Corp. in August 2022. Currently holding the title of senior vice president of ferrous marketing and trading, Matt overseas all ferrous commercial activity as well as the ferrous administration group and corporate logistics team.

Prior to joining Alter Trading, Matt spent more than 23 years with global steelmaker Gerdau. In 1999 Matt began his journey into the metals recycling world as the scale operator at Gerdau’s long products mill in Whitby, Ontario, just 15 minutes from his hometown. After holding several different positions within the Metals Recycling Division of Gerdau N.A., Matt ‘s last several years with the company were as commercial director of Metals Recycling for North America. In that role, he had oversight of all raw material procurement for Gerdau’s North American assets as well as import/export negotiation for Gerdau Mexico and several South American operations.
