Greg Wittbecker is president of Wittsend Commodity Advisors, a privately held consultancy based in Tampa, Florida. He has more than 50 years’ experience in the commodity industry, initially spending 12 years in grain trading before devoting the last 38-plus years to aluminum. Greg has held various senior commercial and strategic planning roles with Cargill, Wise Metals, Koch Supply and Trading and Alcoa. He retired from Alcoa in 2018 as vice president, Industry Analysis, after serving as managing director of Alcoa Beijing Trading Co., based in Shanghai. From 2018 to December 2022, Greg was an outside advisor to CRU International, with an emphasis on the primary aluminum and scrap markets. In 2023, he launched Wittsend Commodity Advisors to provide strategic commercial solutions to a select group of major private clients. Greg serves on the board of Alexandria Industries, a Minnesota-based aluminum extrusion company. He also is on the Advisory Board of Boston-based Phoenix Tailings, which is actively developing the recovery of rare earths from bauxite residue and other industrial tailings. In 2022, he joined the Strategic Advisory Board of Boston-based Nth Cycle, which is deploying its proprietary technology in the recovery of high-grade nickel/cobalt concentrates from battery scrap.
